Heather Locklear Leaves Treatment Center

After successfully completing four weeks of treatment for anxiety and depression, Heather Locklear is back home.

“Heather’s feeling really great,” says a close friend. “And she looks beautiful, just radiant.”

While the actress’s recovery is “a work in progress,” Locklear seems rejuvenated by her month away, says the friend. “She told a really funny story and she laughed from her core,” says the pal, who has seen Locklear since she returned home last weekend. “That’s when I knew she was going to be fine. I think that’s the best part of all – it’s so nice to hear her laugh.”

During her time at the Arizona facility, Locklear, 46, remained under doctors’ care while getting therapeutic spa treatments, riding horses and spending quality time alone. Her spirits were lifted by two visits from boyfriend Jack Wagner.

Since she checked herself in on June 19, Locklear has enjoyed the support of her ex, Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora. Their daughter Ava, 10, spent the last few weeks with Sambora but is now with her mom. Locklear is most excited, says the source, to be “back home with Ava.”

Golden Girls Star Estelle Getty Dies at 84

Estelle Getty, who won an Emmy and a Golden Globe as the tart-tongued Sophia Petrillo – mother of Bea Arthur’s character – on TV’s The Golden Girls, has died. She was 84.

Getty’s longtime manager, Alan Siegel, said on Tuesday: “As of 5:35 this morning, surrounded by her family in her Hollywood Hills home, Estelle Getty passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes. Her family and close friends thank everyone for being so loving and supportive of Estelle in her last few years.”

For many years, Getty had suffered with Lewy’s Body Dementia, which has been described as a type of Alzheimer’s disease.

Also starring with Betty White and Rue McClanahan on the NBC sitcom, Getty’s Sophia resulted in her receiving seven Emmy nominations, and a win in 1988. Equally winning were her well-delivered insults on the show. A typical Petrillo put-down: “I think there’s a connection between your brain and wallpaper paste.”

Daughter of Immigrants
Specializing in playing “old” (Getty, only three years older than Arthur, was in her early 60s when she was cast as octogenarian Sophia), the future TV star was born Estelle Scher, the daughter of Polish immigrants, on New York’s Lower East Side.

From age 5 “I wanted to be [movie queen] Claudette Colbert,” Getty said in 1986.

Desperate for an acting career, Estelle took lessons – then, in 1946, she took a husband: retail-glass businessman Arthur Gettleman, whose name she would later adapt as a stage professional. But first, she raised the Gettleman’s two sons, Carl and Barry.

Eventually there were off-off Broadway roles, then Harvey Fierstein cast her as his overbearing mother in Torch Song Trilogy, which opened on Broadway in 1982. The spotlight from that show resulted in her landing the role of Sophia.

Arthur Gettleman died in 2004. Her sons survive her.

“She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents,” Carl Gettleman told the Associated Press Tuesday. “She was one of the most talented comedic actresses who ever lived.”

Funeral services will be private, said Siegel.

Khloe Kardashian Recounts Hours in Jail

Though her three-hour imprisonment on Friday was the butt of countless jokes, Khloe Kardashian’s time in jail in Los Angeles was harrowing, she says.

“There was a bomb threat,” Kardashian told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Monday. “They put me in solitary confinement and the warden came down to talk to me and said, ‘You’re the one causing all the problems here. … There are all these bomb threats, and we think they’re because of you.’”

She also said she had to watch an “intense” instructional video about “how to be a good inmate” and to avoid fights and getting a staph infection.

The 24-year-old reality star had been sentenced to 30 days for failing to meet the terms of her probation for a DUI. She was released early because of overcrowding and because she posed a threat to the rest of the prison population, she says.

Talking about her DUI arrest, Kardashian says she turned to the bottle on the anniversary of the death of her father from esophageal cancer four years ago.

“I guess drinking was a way for me to deal with it,” she says. “Everybody takes it differently, but I have dealt with it the hardest and it’s been really hard for me to understand and to grieve.”

After serving time at the Lynwood, Calif., jail for women – the same facility where Paris Hilton served time for an alcohol-related driving offense – she says she’ll never drink and drive again. “I’m very happy to have all of this behind me and to have learned a very, very good lesson and to never do it again.”

Her advice to others who may have had too much to drink, “Have a friend drive you … Get a cab. Get a friend. Get a driver.”

Britney Spears to Film Segment for Madonna’s Tour

Britney Spears will team up with Madonna – virtually – during the singer’s upcoming Sticky & Sweet tour.

“Britney is going to film something for Madonna’s show in the next week or so,” Madonna’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, says.

As for details about what they will be doing – and where it will be filmed – Rosenberg says, “I don’t know. It’s a secret.”

Contrary to published reports, Spears is not in New York to film the video segments, nor has she already shot anything.

This isn’t the first collaboration for the pop stars. The two famously teamed up during the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, sharing the stage – and one memorable kiss – during the broadcast.

Spears is not expected to perform with Madonna, whose tour kicks off in Wales next month. The U.S. leg of her tour starts Oct. 4 in East Rutherford, N.J.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Welcome a Baby Girl

Nicole Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban, have welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, born Monday morning in Nashville.

“Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side, and mother and baby are very well,” said spokesman Paul Freundlich, who added that the couple were “delighted” to make the announcement. He also said the baby girl weighed 6 lbs., 7.5 oz.

The pregnancy was first announced in January. Kidman has two other children with her former husband Tom Cruise: Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13.

In the days leading up to the birth, the couple – who celebrated their second wedding anniversary on June 25 – didn’t stray from their normal routine in and around Nashville, where they reside in a gated community.

From early morning stops at a local Starbucks for warm drinks to a little sweat at the gym later in the day (Kidman was a regular at spin and yoga classes during her pregnancy), the couple remained low-key.

“She’s never been happier and healthier,” says a close family friend. “She is absolutely radiant and enjoying nesting and homemaking with Keith at their new home in Nashville.”

But getting ready for their baby was a priority. Urban admitted he was learning a new vocabulary for fatherhood and doing Lamaze lessons. “He doesn’t know the name [of the classes], but he has been very good at it!” Kidman told a local radio station on June 24.

The new parents also bought a couple of books to help them along: Pocket Dad: Everyday Wisdom and Your Pregnancy, Week By Week.

“The unknown excites me a lot,” Urban told reporters in May. “What kind of feelings will fatherhood bring? I’m sure I can’t even imagine, but I am really looking forward to finding out.”

Lawyer Says A-Rod and Madonna Had ‘An Affair of the Heart’

Alex Rodriguez’s relationship with Madonna was “an affair of the heart” – not “sexual infidelity” – according to Cynthia Rodriguez’s lawyer.

Still, the baseball star’s relationship with the singer “was the last straw” before the Yankee slugger’s wife filed for divorce Monday, her Houston attorney, Earle Lilly, said.

Lilly says that A-Rod was smitten with Madonna, but makes no claim of any sexual liaison. “The correct analysis is a relationship,” he says. “Some people categorize an affair as something as sexual infidelity. We’re not claming that. It’s an affair of the heart.”

Over the weekend, Madonna issued a statement denying a romantic relationship with the baseball star, saying, “I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage.”

In fact, “Madonna’s name is not even mentioned in the papers,” says Lilly. “We don’t want the public to think this is an aggressive action against Madonna.”

Still, Lilly maintains that A-Rod has behaved badly for “a good while” and his client, Cynthia Rodriguez, has had enough. “She’s just a Greek Orthodox lady who has had as much as she can take,” he says.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, Cynthia’s Miami attorney Maurice Kutner filed the divorce petition.

“This is an action for dissolution of marriage, which is being filed only after [Cynthia Rodriguez] has exhausted every effort to salvage the marriage of the parties,” the document reads. “However, Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children and has left her with no choice but to divorce him.”

Without naming any names, the document states, “The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct.”

The couple were married Nov. 2, 2002 in Dallas. They have two daughters, Natasha, 3, and Ella, 2 months.

Both Lilly and Kutner maintain that their client hopes to settle the divorce as amicably as possible.

“Cynthia has made it very clear to me that she wants to take the high road and protect her children and herself,” Kutner said shortly after filing the papers. “She wants to resolve the issues between Alex and herself in an amicable fashion.”
